Cozi alternatives: 5 family organizer apps compared

Cozi, FamilyWall, TimeTree, Google and Nidalumi side by side: price, reminders, kids’ chores. Checked on official pages in October 2026.

The short answer. For most families, Nidalumi is the best Cozi alternative: each reminder goes straight to the person who has to do it — in Telegram or as a phone notification — with a Done button, kids earn points for chores, and nobody else has to install an app. It costs $35 a year for a family of up to four, with a 5-day free trial and no card. Free calendars show who is busy when, but they don't make sure the task gets done — that is exactly what Nidalumi does.

Nidalumi: reminders that go to the right person

Best for: families where the list lives in one head. You add a task in a sentence — “tomorrow 6pm pick up Anna from dance” — and the reminder goes to whoever has to do it, with Done and Postpone buttons. Nobody else installs an app: the message arrives in Telegram, or as a phone notification for those who prefer it. Kids earn points for chores and trade them for rewards or pocket money; chores rotate by themselves; medication reminders reach a parent in another city; bills and subscriptions warn before the charge; where is my kid works only on request. There are no ads on the site.

Price: $35 a year for a family of up to four — less than any paid plan in this comparison. No ads. The first 5 days are free, no card needed.

Cozi: the classic, and why families are leaving it

Cozi started as a shared calendar with shopping lists and a recipe box. What changed is the free plan. According to Cozi's own App Store listing, free users can't add, edit or view events more than 30 days ahead, and the free plan shows ads. Month view on mobile, calendar search, extra reminders and the birthday tracker are in Cozi Gold ($39 a year); the AI meal planner and import from emails are in Cozi Max ($79 a year).

Downside: the free plan shows ads and only looks 30 days ahead; chores are plain checklists without points; the interface is English only.

Switching from Cozi: Nidalumi has no ads, and adds chores with points, pocket money and a reminder with a Done button for each person. $35 a year — less than Cozi Gold.

FamilyWall: key features are paid

Downside: the budget, meal planner, school timetable and live location are in the paid plan, which costs more than Nidalumi.

Switching from FamilyWall: in Nidalumi the budget, meal plan, school timetable and location on request come in one price — $35 a year, less than FamilyWall Premium — more on switching from FamilyWall.

TimeTree: a calendar, not a task system

Downside: it's a calendar, not a to-do or chore system, and the free plan shows ads.

Switching from TimeTree: keep a shared calendar and add what TimeTree doesn't have — tasks with owners, chores with points and reminders with a Done button.

Switching from TimeTree: a TimeTree alternative with tasks and reminders.

Google Calendar + Google Keep: free, but nobody is in charge

Downside: there's no family structure — no chores, no points, and a shared note doesn't know who is supposed to act.

Switching from Google: Nidalumi can subscribe to your Google Calendar by link and adds what Keep lacks — every task has an owner who gets the reminder.

How to choose in two minutes

  1. Tired of reminding everyone yourself? Choose Nidalumi: each person gets their own reminder with a Done button.
  2. Want kids to do chores without nagging? Choose Nidalumi: points, rewards and pocket money are built in; the calendars above only have checklists.
  3. Does your family live in Telegram? Choose Nidalumi: reminders arrive there, no extra app.
  4. Want to try before you pay? Choose Nidalumi: 5 days free, no card.

How we compared

We looked at each app's official pricing and feature pages and its App Store listing on 3 October 2026, and noted what the free plan includes, what a whole family pays, who receives reminders, and what's in the paid plan only. Where a feature wasn't mentioned on official pages, we wrote “not found” rather than guessing. Prices are in US dollars and may differ by country.

Questions and answers

What is the best Cozi alternative?

For families where one person carries the whole list, Nidalumi: reminders go to the person who has to act, in Telegram or as a phone notification, and kids' chores come with points and rewards.

Is there a free alternative to Cozi?

Nidalumi is free for the first 5 days, no card needed, and then costs $35 a year for a family of up to four — less than Cozi Gold. Free calendars like TimeTree or Google Calendar show plans, but they don't send each person their own task with a Done button and have no chores with points.

Which Cozi alternative works without everyone installing an app?

Nidalumi: one person sets it up, and the others get their reminders in Telegram with a Done button. Those who prefer can get phone notifications instead.

Can I move my Cozi calendar to another app?

Cozi can share a calendar as a link (read-only feed). Nidalumi can subscribe to an external calendar by link, so school or club events show up next to your tasks.

How much does Cozi Gold cost?

$39 a year; Cozi Max is $79 a year, according to Cozi's plan page in October 2026.
